As the party deliberated their next move in their campaign to prevent war, they were conscripted by Deacon Harold to assist him in a project he was working on, involving petty criminals. However, it was revealed that the party had unwittingly assisted the Deacon in a horrific blood magic ritual. A terrible battle ensued, in which a member of the party was tragically lost. Smodi repaid the Deacon in kind, killing him with a crushing tidal wave. He then turned himself into a polar bear, unceremoniously dragging his dead body through the city streets and burying him in an empty alleyway.
